During the night of Tuesday the 15th of April someone stole this Buttonwood from Ed Trout's back yard. This Buttonwood has been in training for about 25 years. It is 53 in tall, 30 in wide, and 30 in deep. It is in a Tokoname Lotus style container, approx 20 in, by 3 in deep. [ more ]

I'm sad to report the passing of bonsai master Saburo Kato this morning in Omiya, Japan. Saburo Kato (May 15, 1915 - February 8, 2008) was the third generation proprietor of Mansei-en Bonsai Garden in Omiya Bonsai Village, Japan.

The BSF Junior Scholarship will be open to people between the ages of twelve and twenty one. Applicants will submit interest through an essay, a show of competence in horticulture, or a display of artistic talent related to horticulture. [ more ]

I am sad to report that someone broke into Svet's shop Sat or Sun and stole approximately 15 bonsai trees. The trees were Fukien Tea in 14 inch Mica pots and Bouganvilleas that were in 20 inch Mica pots. [ more ]

In 2006 the Bonsai Society of Brevard began a great relationship with the Brevard Zoo, located in Melbourne. The zoo turned over to the club a prime spot within the zoo on which to build a permanent bonsai display. [ more ]
