Jim Smith has asked me to let you all know that his son, Doug, died this afternoon while in hospice care. Jim and Billie were with him, and he had a peaceful end. As most of you know, Doug has been struggling with cancer and recently had a small stroke. [ more ]

Jean was born in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and grew up in Independence, Missouri. She moved to Ft. Walton Beach, FL in 1955, and knew that she had found heaven on earth. She died on May 15, 2009, at the age of 83. [ more ]

Stolen Buttonwood
During the night of Tuesday the 15th of April someone stole this Buttonwood from Ed Trout's back yard. This Buttonwood has been in training for about 25 years. Bonsai Master Saburo Kato has passed away

I'm sad to report the passing of bonsai master Saburo Kato this morning in Omiya, Japan. Saburo Kato (May 15, 1915 - February 8, 2008) was the third generation proprietor of Mansei-en Bonsai Garden in Omiya Bonsai Village, Japan.

Tree Theft in Orlando
I am sad to report that someone broke into Svet's shop Sat or Sun and stole approximately 15 bonsai trees. The trees were Fukien Tea in 14 inch Mica pots and Bouganvilleas that were in 20 inch Mica pots. [ more ]
